The energy ratings in a window replacement glass system are an essential component when determining which glass system best works for your home. High-performance cavity foam insulation technology is available in select window replacement styles. This silver-gray foam insulation provides greater thermal protection to keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer with less energy spending. Select chambers of the window are thermally reinforced with the precision-contoured insulating foam liners to increase energy efficiency and achieve a lower U-Factor* for year-round protection against energy loss. Not only does this carbonized foam material reflect radiant heat to lower thermal conductivity and increase the insulating performance, but it also aids in the reduction of noise transfer particularly when combined with our high-performance triple-pane glass.
*The U-Factor represents the window's resistance to heat flow and energy loss. The lower the U-Factor, the greater the energy savings.
A Low-E coating on windows is applied to a surface of a glass pane. This is done by applying two microscopically thin, virtually invisible layers of metallic oxide that help repel the sun's powerful UV rays. The Low-E coating allows natural light to enter your home while repelling or deflecting those potentially harmful UV rays and minimizing heat transfer.
